Acai – One Powerful Super Fruit
Grapes in many forms, including wine, have been hailed as being packed with the highest antioxidants. Until the acai berry was found, that is. The acai berry grows in the Amazon rainforests and, because of that, it’s almost impossible to find this berry fresh. Most people have jumped on the juice wagon with this one, but at Chews-4-Health™ International, we believe in the power of chewing! We added the acai berry to our Chews-4-Health Dietary Supplement because of the astounding health benefits: omega-fatty acids, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, positive heart health benefits, iron, calcium, fiber, protein and anti-aging advantages.
Acai berries are produced by a palm tree common in floodplain areas of the Amazon River. These dark purple berries, a little smaller than a blueberry, contain a thin layer of edible pulp surrounding a large seed. One of the main plant chemicals getting a lot of attention in acai, is a compound called anthocyanin, a group of flavonoids. These berries have been shown to have anti-aging properties, help increase energy and aid in many skin conditions.* Acai contains naturally occurring, plant-based Vitamin B, Vitamin E, fiber, protein and minerals such as iron and calcium. They contain naturally-occurring amino acids, essential fatty acids (Omega 3, 6, and 9), and have an extremely high amount of antioxidants compared to other fruits. Acai has more antioxidants than raw spinach, and 10 to 30 times more anthocyanins than red wine.
